Animals in Denial Unleash Futuristic Visuals for “Operator” Music Video

Experience the sonic journey of Animals in Denial’s latest music video for “Operator” – a cyberpunk-inspired anthem born from a beat that haunted the artist since age 14. With emotional depth and futuristic soundscapes, the “Operator” video expands on the song’s themes of love, heartbreak, and detachment through striking visuals and a pulsating atmosphere.

Produced with the help of industrial legend Steven Seibold (Hate Dept, Pigface), the “Operator” single takes listeners on a ride through a dystopian soundscape, blending industrial and electronic elements to create a unique listening experience. Now, with the release of the accompanying video, that sonic world is brought to life in a visually arresting display of neon-lit desolation and digital intrigue.

From his early days playing in local bands to the establishment of Animals in Denial, he has remained steadfast in his pursuit of musical innovation and authenticity. With each release, Imes showcases his versatility as a musician, seamlessly blending elements of alternative rock, electronica, and experimental sounds to create a truly unique sonic experience.

At the heart of Animals in Denial lies Imes’ dedication to his craft, evident in his hands-on approach to music production. In his studio, he meticulously crafts every aspect of his compositions, with occasional production assistance from his wife, Jeanine. This DIY ethos allows Imes to fully realize his artistic vision, resulting in a catalog of music that is as diverse as it is immersive.

In 2016, Imes made a significant mark on the music scene with the release of more than a dozen singles and four full-length albums on all major streaming services. These releases garnered critical acclaim and showcased Imes’ ability to push the boundaries of genre conventions while maintaining a distinct and cohesive sound. With each album, he delves deeper into themes of introspection, existentialism, and the human condition, inviting listeners on a journey of self-discovery and reflection.

The story behind “Operator” is as compelling as the song itself. The beat had been living in Imes’ head since he was 14, a time when he was obsessing over The Matrix and navigating his early creative impulses in Canton, NC. At that point, he had only a guitar—no synths, no drum machines—but the idea persisted. Years later, using a lite copy of Ableton Live and old-school drum samples, the track finally began to take shape.

Imes initially built out the demo in just 30 minutes, but it wasn’t until he teamed up with Seibold that the song reached its final form. Seibold’s production expertise helped refine “Operator”, from tweaking the vocal delivery on the third verse to subtle harmonies in the chorus, adding a dynamic edge to the track. The pair even recorded vocals in Seibold’s home studio, marking a full-circle moment for Imes, a longtime admirer of his collaborator’s work.

The “Operator” music video takes these themes and translates them into a cinematic experience, weaving in glitchy visuals, futuristic aesthetics, and a sense of eerie nostalgia. The dark, atmospheric, and hypnotic visuals heighten the feeling of emotional detachment and digital disconnect present in the song, making it a mesmerizing watch from start to finish.

This video release comes ahead of Rust Covered Lust, the upcoming Animals in Denial EP, set to drop on March 28. The EP’s launch will coincide with a special livestream performance, promising an electrifying showcase of Imes’ evolving artistry.

Check out the “Operator” music video now and step into the world of Animals in Denial—where raw emotion meets cyberpunk grit, and the past collides with the future in an electrifying audiovisual experience.
