Keyth Jones Ignites Nostalgia with New Release “Run to Me”

A lifelong musical wanderer pays tribute to his garage rock roots in a high octane anthem.

From his early days haunting coffeehouses with an acoustic guitar to his time fronting Baltimore’s psych-rock outfit Fractal Cat, Keyth Jones’s career has been defined by restless reinvention.

Now, with his latest single “Run to Me”, Jones cranks up the fuzz, dusts off his love for electric guitar, and delivers a high energy garage rock anthem that could have easily been unearthed from a stack of Nuggets era vinyl.

Listen in here:

Jones’s musical journey started in the late 1990’s, inspired by an eclectic mix of golden oldies, grunge and the kind of raw untamed rock that once filled the airwaves of AM radio.

While his early songwriting leaned into an intimate, singer songwriter aesthetic, he took a sharp left turn in the early 2000’s co-founding the avant garde rock band Pläns Pläns. The group thrived on experimentation, blending noise rock with unconventional song structures and releasing two albums over an eight year run.

From there, Jones found a new musical home in Baltimore, joining forces with multi-instrumentalist Miles Gannett to form Fractal Cat, a psychedelic folk-rock outfit that quickly became a staple of the local scene. Over three albums, the band explored rich harmonies, kaleidoscopic instrumentation and a deep reverence for ‘60s and ‘70s rock traditions. They gained a dedicated following, frequent airplay on Baltimore radio and shared stages with acts like Cris Jacobs and Rising Appalachia.

But then came the pandemic. A forced pause that led to personal reflection and, eventually, a creative rebirth.

Stepping away from the elaborate arrangements of his past projects, Jones reconnected with the simple joy of making music for the sake of it. He picked up his electric guitar again and started writing songs that felt immediate, raw, full of life. It was “Run to Me” that emerged from this period, born during a 2022 jam session with his wife on drums.

“I had just started playing electric guitar again and wanted to write a rocker that paid homage to the ‘60s garage bands,” Jones recalls.

His passion for the era wasn’t just casual – he had spent years digging through record store bargain bins with friends, searching for obscure garage rock gems and then taking them home to crank up on basement stereo systems. That same wide-eyed enthusiasm pulses through “Run to Me.”

The track bursts forward with a raucous, full-throttle energy. Biting guitar tones rip through a relentless rhythm section, and Jones delivers his vocals with fevered intensity, recalling the raw spirit of bands that burned bright and fast.

While the song does lean into vintage aesthetics, there’s a modern tightness to the arrangement and a meticulous attention to detail – something Jones credits to producer Miles Gannett, who spent hours fine – tuning the mix until every guitar layer hit just right.

Initially, Jones had envisioned an entire garage rock EP, but as the project evolved he decided to let his love for multiple genres shine through. His upcoming fivesong release called “Love Yourself” is set for release April 2025. It promises a blend of garage rock, soul, bluegrass, and quirky romantic storytelling.

“Run to Me” remains its centerpiece – a fiery, unapologetic rock anthem that proves Jones still has plenty of musical surprises up his sleeve.
