From the moment the opening track kicks in, it’s clear that this EP is not here to play nice.

The guitars snarl with distortion, carving through the air with jagged precision, while the rhythm section provides a pounding foundation that never wavers. The production walks a fine line between grit and clarity, allowing the music’s rawness to shine without ever feeling over-polished. This balance is crucial because Animal In Denial has an urgency to these songs.

Lyrically, “Rust Covered Lust” delivers some of Animals In Denial’s most powerful storytelling yet.

The EP opens with “Operator”. Here, the beats are crisp and mechanical, giving the track a futuristic, cyberpunk edge. There is sharp percussion and eerie synth textures creating an unsettling sense of urgency. This sets a bold and commanding introduction, setting the tone for the ride ahead.

“Coi” takes a different approach, immersing the listener in a hazy, hypnotic atmosphere. The vocals are more introspective, pulling back from the mechanical precision of the opener and leaning into something more emotional.

Then, “Rage” shatters the calm. An explosion of energy, this track pulses with distorted baselines and frantic rhythms. There is an industrial quality to it, reminiscent of early electronic punk influences.

“Danger Danger” has an all-out adrenaline rush. The beat is relentless, the synths pulse like flashing emergency lights and the repetitive hook acts as a signal of impending chaos.

The themes of struggle and rebellion pulse throughout each song, giving this EP a blend of chaos and also catharsis. This is very much a defining statement. Hooks are sharp, the melodies burrow into your brain and the choruses beg to be screamed back at full volume.
