Moments Of Push Past the Edge with Soaring New Single “Threshold”

With their new single Threshold, Portland Maine’s based rock outfit Moments Of sound like a band standing squarely in their stride. And taking a big step forward.

Mixing the sound of early 2000’s emo with the dynamics of modern alt rock, this new track is both fresh and familiar, as if designed for equal parts packed club singalongs and solitary late night drives.

Listen in here:

The story of Moments Of begins with frontman Jack Howard, who started the project as a deeply personal outlet to create music that felt truly his own. Joined by guitarist Adam Howarth, the songs quickly grew in ambition and scope prompting the duo to expand the lineup. Ben Wilson came aboard to broaden the band’s vocal range and deepen their sound, and the rhythm section locked into place with bassist Kyle Gravel and drummer Dan Dunham. The result is a five piece with the chemistry of lifelong bandmates and the hunger of a group still earning its stripes.

Since their debut release in August 2023, Moments Of have been anything but idle. They’ve taken their emotionally charged live show up and down the East Coast, toured to Florida, shared stages with The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and played high-profile stops like the Emo’s Not Dead Cruise, Chain Reaction in Anaheim and Brick by Brick in San Diego.

Whether it’s in front of 800 hometown fans at Portland’s Aura or in a sweaty West Coast club, they bring the same high-voltage energy. A fact that “Threshold” captures in spades.

Opening with chiming guitar lines that bristle with anticipation, the track wastes no time building toward its towering chorus. Howard’s vocals are equal parts vulnerable and defiant, threading emotional honesty through a melody that refuses to leave your head. Howarth’s and Wilson’s guitars bring shimmer and grit, while Gravel and Dunham drive the song with propulsive urgency. The arrangement hits that sweet spot where every part feels vital, yet nothing overshadows the song’s emotive core.

The music video for Threshold mirrors the band’s live ethos – it’s intense, unfiltered and deeply connected to the audience. Cutting between electrifying stage footage and candid offstage moments, it pulls the listener into the band’s orbit, making you feel less like a passive viewer and more like you’re right there in the crowd, shouting every word back at them.

At its heart, “Threshold” is a song about movement. About crossing from one place to another, be it emotional, personal or artistic.

For Moments Of, it feels like they’ve definitely hit their stride, and they’re clearly not slowing down.
